By Flights:

  • Flights are the most recommended option, with a travel time of approximately 2.5 hours from mainland India. Airlines like Air India, Spicejet, Vistara, Go Air, and Indigo operate to Port Blair (IXZ) from major cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkata. Additional flights from Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad are available during the peak season.
  • Currently, no evening flights operate post-sunset, with flights departing between 7 AM and 4 PM daily.

By Ship:

  • Ships are available from major ports like Chennai, Kolkata, and Vizag. These government-operated ships take about 2.5 to 3 days to reach the Andaman Islands, depending on the weather.
  • Schedule information is available through the respective port authorities. However, we recommend flights for time-saving and convenience.

Entry Formalities to Port Blair

Indian Nationals:

Indian citizens do not require any special entry formalities or permits, except for restricted tribal areas and defense zones.

Foreign Nationals:

Foreign nationals, NRIs, and OCI Card Holders must present a valid passport at the immigration counter upon arrival. A Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is required to visit certain islands, which is issued for 30 days upon arrival.
